The bowling limitsThe first 25 ballsThe table gives the leader a direct routeKeep the 2026 Team Trophy distinctThe Hundred is a cricket competition built around innings of 100 balls. It has men’s and women’s competitions, each with its own results and route to a final. The ball counter is central to following an innings.
The bowling pattern differs from standard six-ball-over presentation. Bowlers deliver sets of five or ten consecutive balls, and the fielding side changes ends after ten. Applying ordinary T20 over notation to the screen can therefore obscure the state of play.
The bowling limits
An individual bowler can deliver up to 20 balls in a match. The captain chooses whether a bowler delivers five or ten consecutive balls within the competition rules. A ten-ball spell is therefore a specific tactical option rather than an accidental extension of a six-ball over.
The first 25 balls
The powerplay occupies the opening 25 balls of the innings, with two fielders permitted outside the fielding circle. A programme discussing the end of the powerplay is identifying a ball-count boundary. It is not describing the sixth over of a conventional T20 innings.
The table gives the leader a direct route
The group-stage leader goes straight to the final. Second and third play the Eliminator for the other final place. That is a three-team finals route, not two conventional semi-finals.
| Group-stage placing | Next stage |
|---|---|
| First | Final |
| Second or third | Eliminator |
| Eliminator winner | Final |
Keep the 2026 Team Trophy distinct
A separate Team Trophy combines points from the men’s and women’s squads of the same team, with its own published scoring. It does not replace the men’s or women’s final. A programme about the combined trophy is addressing a broader team total, while a match recording still belongs to one of the two competitions. Preserve that distinction when reading results or organising a double-header.
