Use the official free-account route

SBS describes creating and verifying an account with a valid email address. Follow that route through the official service and keep the intended account clear across screens. A verification step should not be confused with an invitation to buy every programme in the catalogue.

A hypothetical household setting up a shared television can confirm the free account first, then select the actual title or channel it wants. Those are separate steps, so an account prompt does not by itself explain a missing episode.

A live channel and a programme page do different jobs

The live guide follows scheduled television, while an on-demand title page lets you inspect the offered programme or episode. Select the route matching the intended use. A live broadcast currently showing a film is not a durable link to that film from its opening.

Keep the Australian viewing scope attached to the service. SBS’s guide describes its content rights as Australian; do not infer worldwide programme access from a working login or an international-language film in the catalogue.

Read the expiry beside the selected title

SBS says programme pages show expiry information for titles leaving within the next three months. The displayed indication becomes more precise as removal approaches, and some views expose an exact end date and time when the message is inspected.

For a hypothetical series weekend, check the episodes and their remaining availability before starting a long season. A title in a saved list is useful for discovery, while the current programme page is the place to inspect its viewing window.

Use the exact remaining time shown by the service when planning a final episode. If an item disappears, distinguish expiry from an account or playback problem before changing credentials or reinstalling the app. Keep the programme title and the last displayed availability note with any support question.
