Although it can be used as a tablet, it is not an Android tablet or iPad. Choose a Windows player and consider the Arm64 architecture.
Surface names cover several generations and processor families. Confirm the complete model and processor in the device information before selecting an installer.
Prefer the developer’s Arm choice where offered
Microsoft explains that native Arm64 applications are built for Windows Arm, while many other Windows applications can run using emulation. Windows 11 provides broader x64 emulation than older Windows-on-Arm guidance describes.
That support does not extend automatically to every driver or component. USB audio interfaces, capture hardware or system-level plug-ins can need Arm-compatible drivers. A desktop app opening successfully is not proof that every accessory in its workflow is supported.
A tablet screen does not change package formats
Use the Microsoft Store or the developer’s documented Windows download route. Do not choose an Android APK because the Surface has touch input. App compatibility is determined by the operating system and architecture, not by whether the keyboard is attached.
Check whether the player’s controls suit both touch and keyboard use. A native Windows app can still have small desktop controls. Consider the playback, audio and subtitle menus you will actually use before paying a separate software charge.
Record the software and account layers
Provide support with the Surface model, processor, Windows version and exact player. Ask for the service input method that player accepts. A direct media URL, a playlist and an account portal are different inputs.
Keep the Microsoft account, the player’s purchase and Dream 4K service details separate. If a program fails during installation, start with its Windows/Arm requirements; if it opens but rejects a sign-in, confirm the issued account format before changing the device’s system settings.
