Google’s guidance requires the sender and Google TV to be on the same Wi-Fi network and uses a Cast-enabled app or supported Chrome workflow.
A Cast symbol on a logo sheet does not establish that every player, media source or television supports it. Confirm both the sending app and receiving device.
Choose the route inside the app
Open a supported app on the sender, select its Cast control and choose the named television. Google describes the Cast icon changing state when connected. Playback and available controls then depend on that app and the media route.
Casting is not the same action as installing a native TV player. If the phone app is the controller, its own service session and casting support matter. If you open a player directly on the television, that is a separate native-app workflow.
Treat discovery and playback as separate checks
First establish whether the correct receiver appears and can be selected. Then check whether the chosen content starts. A receiver appearing in a device list does not prove that a protected or unsupported media source can play through it.
When discovery fails, compare the network names on the TV and sender and consult the receiver’s official help. Google’s Google TV guidance also explains how to check whether the Google Cast system app is enabled. Avoid changing service credentials merely because the television is missing from a local device list.
Protect the shared-screen context
Name the intended room clearly so you do not select a different household receiver. End the Cast session from the app when finished, particularly on a shared television.
For Dream 4K, confirm that the chosen player supports the Cast feature with the issued account route. Do not infer a casting permission or a simultaneous-connection allowance from the fact that the app has a Cast icon. Keep subscription terms and app capabilities separate.
