Samsung documents the network update route as Settings > All Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now. Keep the television powered until the operation completes. Samsung notes that video and audio preferences may return to defaults after an update.

This is a TV firmware update. It is different from updating an app, installing an Android APK or renewing a streaming account.

Record what you may need to restore

Note the TV model, installed software and relevant video/audio preferences before starting. If you use a receiver or soundbar, retain the working input and output choices so any changed setting is easy to recognize afterward.

Choose a time when an update and restart will not interrupt the household’s intended viewing. Keep the player and service setup unchanged for the first check after firmware maintenance.

Check for a network update

Open Settings > All Settings > Support.
Select Software Update > Update Now.
Follow the television’s prompts if software is available.
Do not turn off the TV during installation.
After any automatic restart, check the software version and the relevant picture/audio settings.

If Software Update is grayed out

Samsung’s update article says a running streaming app can make the option unavailable and advises switching to the TV source or Samsung TV Plus. Use the current model guidance if its menus differ.

A grayed-out menu is not by itself evidence that the service is incompatible or that the television needs a factory reset. Record the current input and app state before making broader changes.

Keep USB firmware model specific

Samsung also provides a USB route through its Download Center. It requires the firmware for the exact product model and the documented extraction and USB layout. Do not use a similarly named television’s firmware or a third-party player package as a replacement.

If the television is offline and a USB update is needed, follow Samsung’s current model page from start to finish. Formatting a USB drive affects its files, so prepare the correct drive and retain anything needed before that separate operation.

After the update, open a known app and check the original action. A successful firmware installation cannot prove every player feature or source is compatible. If the remaining issue is one app or a rejected login, report that separately with its app version rather than repeating the TV update.
