Its current developer README provides separate local-file and remote-URL choices for each. The two inputs perform different jobs.
Obtain the provider’s appropriate authorized inputs before configuring the client. A generic portal address is not automatically an M3U file or XMLTV feed.
Install the right component
Kodi’s official wiki documents PVR IPTV Simple Client in the repository’s PVR clients area. The core player and client are separate components, and Linux packaging can have a distribution-specific route.
Record Kodi and client versions. Settings and supported playback functions can evolve, so use the developer README for the installed generation rather than a screenshot from an unrelated build.
Choose the channel source
In the client configuration, the documented General settings offer Local path for a file on the device/local network or Remote path for a URL. The corresponding M3U play list path or URL field must match that choice.
Use the exact supplied address or file. Avoid reconstructing a provider endpoint from another service’s example. An address can include private tokens, so keep it out of public configuration screenshots.
Add guide data separately
The EPG section has its own XMLTV location and path/URL settings. A working M3U source can provide channels while the programme guide remains empty or unmatched. Do not replace working stream access simply because guide data needs attention.
The client documentation describes channel identifiers and guide matching. Ask the provider for the relevant guide input and matching expectations. A global time shift should not be used to hide missing or mismatched programme data.
Treat playback features as conditional
The current README states that pause, seeking, timeshift and catch-up depend on the provider and inputstream. A client option or programme listing is not proof that Dream 4K supplies an archive window or recording feature.
Check channel loading, live playback and guide data as separate outcomes. If a channel plays without EPG, report that narrow result. If the list fails to load, report the input type and redacted error instead.
The official client does not provide a service subscription. Confirm the account method and current source access with the provider. Keep the installation source, client configuration and service entitlement distinct so a support request can address the actual missing component.
