One channel may still have no programme records, a mismatched identifier or a date range outside the guide’s coverage.
Work with one channel and one known time interval. Repeatedly refreshing the whole guide without checking these distinctions can hide the actual missing link.
Confirm the expected data exists
Record the guide retrieval time and the interval you expect to see. Inspect the relevant channel definition and look for programme entries referring to its identifier during that interval. A guide can contain yesterday’s listings or other channels while lacking the one you need.
In an original hypothetical file, channel city.news is defined, but its last programme ends yesterday. Today’s blank row reflects absent current coverage, not necessarily an XML parsing failure. A fresh download returning the same data cannot invent today’s programmes.
Compare the player’s mapping key
If matching programme entries exist, check the identifier the player associates with the streaming channel. A similar display name or identical logo is not a guaranteed identity match. Regional feeds, time-shifted versions and renamed entries can require different schedule relationships.
Use a documented mapping control if the player provides one. Record the original association before a reversible change. Avoid renaming every channel to force a guessed match, because display labels and stable schedule identifiers serve different purposes.
Check time interpretation only after coverage and mapping
If the programmes appear under the wrong hour, preserve the original start/stop timestamps and explicit offsets. That is a time-display question rather than a blank-coverage question. Do not apply a global offset merely because one regional feed has a different schedule.
A useful report names the player channel, XMLTV identifier, date/time interval, guide retrieval time and whether matching programme records were present. It distinguishes “records absent,” “records present but unmapped” and “records mapped but shown at the wrong time.” Those findings guide a targeted correction without making unsupported claims about video availability or the full catalogue.
- Choose one channel and one affected date/time interval.
- Check for matching programme records in the downloaded guide.
- Compare the player mapping with the XMLTV channel identifier.
- Investigate timezone display only if records are present and mapped.
