Choose according to what you want to preserve. Apple also offers Offload Unused Apps for automatic space recovery.
Before removing a player, keep its app identity and service recovery details privately available. Retained local data and an active streaming subscription are different things.
Choose the outcome before the button
Offload is appropriate when you want to remove the app’s software footprint while keeping its documents and settings for a later download. Delete is the stronger local removal action. Neither should be described as a cancellation method for an independently billed service.
Apple says offloaded apps can be restored with their data if the app remains available in the App Store. That condition matters: a recovery plan should not assume every old app will remain downloadable forever.
Review storage manually
- Open Settings on Apple TV.
- Go to General and, under Usage, select Manage Storage.
- Review the listed app sizes and identify the intended application.
- Choose the removal control for that app.
- Select Offload to retain its data, or Delete to remove it with its data, after reading the confirmation.
Understand automatic offloading
Apple documents Settings > Apps > Offload Unused Apps as the automatic control. Offloaded apps show a download icon on Home. Selecting one can download it again through the supported store route.
A download icon is therefore not proof that the player licence expired or that Dream 4K removed the account. Check the app’s installation state first, then interpret any activation message it shows after restoration.
Keep billing and setup separate
If the goal is to stop paying for a service or player subscription, use its actual billing provider’s process. Deleting an app is a device-storage action and is not a reliable substitute for cancellation.
If you restore the player, confirm its name and publisher, then open the intended account method. Do not use a similar app merely because the original icon is familiar. A different player may require different credentials or a separate software payment.
For a support request, distinguish app unavailable in the store, app restored but settings missing, licence prompt or provider login rejection. Include model, tvOS and player version without exposing private URLs. That focused description is more useful than resetting the box after a storage warning.
