In the Apple TV app, use the playback controls to select available subtitle and audio tracks. Apple documents the app’s own controls across devices. A third-party IPTV player running on Apple TV can expose different menus.

Check the film or programme’s details for available languages and accessibility features. A preferred language setting cannot create a track the title does not offer.

Open the programme’s playback controls

On Apple TV with a Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote, Apple documents using Play/Pause to show the playback controls, then selecting the subtitle or audio control as appropriate. On another television or streaming device, use the button that shows the video timeline.

Choose from the available options rather than assuming every title shares the same languages. A track marked for audio descriptions is different from the standard programme soundtrack.

Set a caption preference

Apple documents Accessibility > Subtitles and Captioning for preferring Closed Captions + SDH where available. Style controls can change caption appearance on supported setups. The Apple TV app on some televisions has its own sidebar Settings and Accessibility area.

Use the instructions for the actual device. The Apple TV box’s settings, an Apple TV app on a smart TV and another player’s settings are not interchangeable menus.

Know what the labels mean

Closed captions and subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers can include relevant sound information in addition to dialogue. A standard translated subtitle track may serve a different need. Ask for the specific feature required rather than only a language name.

If the desired option is absent, inspect the title details and current region availability. Apple says languages and accessibility features can vary by title and country. Do not reset the device to create a missing media track.

Keep third-party service questions scoped

For Dream 4K viewed through another player, follow that player’s documented subtitle and audio menu. Apple TV app instructions do not establish the controls or source availability in the IPTV player.

A useful support report names the app, device, source/title, selected track and what appears in its menu. Separate an absent option from a chosen option that is unreadable or out of sync. Keep private account addresses out of screenshots.

If you use AirPlay or another route, check the controls exposed by that route as well. A native app session and a shared video session can behave differently. The practical check is the required track on the intended programme and playback method, not the presence of a generic captions setting.
