Use the official settingCheck the profile relationshipKeep content questions separateDocument the household handoverGoogle TV offers a profile lock requiring a PIN to access that profile’s content and when switching profiles. On a device with several profiles, Google states that enabling the lock for one profile locks only that profile. Review each intended profile rather than assuming the whole device changed.
Use the official setting
Google’s current instructions place Profile lock under Settings, Accounts & Sign In, then the chosen account. Select the intended profile before enabling the feature. Follow the current guide if your device’s menu differs; availability and interface can change with platform updates.
Check the profile relationship
A Google TV profile is not the same as a service account saved inside a player. Record which profile the lock covers and which app entry the household uses. Do not use the service password as a public label or confuse a PIN prompt with a request for the service connection credentials.
Keep content questions separate
Review the individual app’s parental and account controls. A profile lock does not, by itself, classify every stream or establish which sources are appropriate. If another profile remains accessible, review that separate entry path using the platform’s supported controls.
| Question | Where to check |
|---|---|
| Which profile is locked? | Google TV profile-lock settings |
| What can an app show? | That app’s documented restrictions |
| Who may use the service account? | Provider’s confirmed service conditions |
Document the household handover
The account manager’s non-secret note can say that the intended profile lock was reviewed and identify the adult responsible for it. Keep the PIN elsewhere in an appropriate protected location. If a device changes owner or a PIN is forgotten, use the manufacturer’s official account and recovery guidance; this page does not provide bypass instructions.
Questions about this guide
Is Google TV basic-mode device lock the same setting?
Google documents a separate device-lock option for basic TV mode. Use the instructions for the mode actually in use rather than assuming a profile-lock guide applies. This page focuses on the signed-in profile lock and its per-profile scope.
