Its 2026 events moved to four rounds and 72 holes, replacing the earlier three-day, 54-hole format.
The edition matters: describing every LIV event as 54 holes would now misstate the current structure. The retained shotgun-start presentation is a separate feature from the number of rounds.
Individual stroke play remains a total
The individual contest adds strokes across four rounds. A strong round is part of that total rather than a separate match win. The lowest relevant stroke total determines the individual result under the event conditions.
The team contest runs alongside it
Players’ scores also contribute to their team’s result under the league’s published event format. Team and individual leaderboards can therefore highlight different achievements. A leading individual does not automatically establish the leading team, because other team members’ scores matter.
A shotgun start changes where rounds begin
A shotgun programme starts groups from different holes rather than sending every group off the same opening tee in a long sequence. The hole a player is currently playing does not necessarily tell you how many holes that player has completed.
Keep the 2026 finale’s format distinct
The published Indianapolis 2026 finale used four stroke-play rounds with all team scores counting. Earlier season-ending match-play descriptions should not be treated as a timeless Team Championship rule. Use the edition-specific format when revisiting the league’s final event.

Round 2 is the second round of the event. Hole 2 is a location on the course. Those two uses of a number describe different parts of the programme, especially under shotgun starts. Preserve both when resuming a recording.
