Glasgow hosted the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a ten-sport programme that included six fully integrated Para sports. Its programme was specific to this edition, rather than a promise that every sport from an earlier Commonwealth Games would return.

The official list included 3x3 basketball and wheelchair 3x3, artistic gymnastics, athletics, bowls, boxing, track cycling, judo, netball, swimming and weightlifting, with the named Para competitions integrated into the programme.

The modifier identifies the contest

Glasgow’s basketball programme used 3x3, while cycling was track cycling. Those details should remain in a programme label: “basketball” and “cycling” alone conceal the particular forms included in this edition.

Weightlifting and Para powerlifting appeared within the same programme grouping but remained distinct competitions. A shared venue or adjacent schedule does not turn them into the same event or result.

Integrated Para events retain their own identities

The official programme pairs athletics with Para athletics, swimming with Para swimming, bowls with Para bowls and track cycling with Para track cycling. Integration describes their place within the Games programme, rather than removing each event’s classification and title.

For a specific result or replay, preserve the complete event name and any classification attached to it. That information identifies which athletes contested the result and prevents comparisons between differently defined medal events.

Four venue groups supported many sessions

The Games used Scotstoun Stadium, Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Glasgow International Arena and the Scottish Event Campus venues. Each session belonged to a particular part of that programme; it was not a continuous ten-sport match.

A useful archive label combines Glasgow 2026, the sport, full event and stage. A swimming session can include several events, while a named final concerns one medal contest. The full description helps distinguish a session replay from an individual race or a whole-Games highlights show.
