The Caribbean Premier League is a franchise T20 cricket competition in the Caribbean. Its 2026 knockout programme used an Eliminator, Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2 and Final, with four league positions feeding different routes.

The naming matters: the opening playoff games do not both function as ordinary semi-finals. One sends its winner straight to the Final while preserving another chance for its loser; the other eliminates its loser immediately.

First and second meet in Qualifier 1

The leading two league sides contest a direct-final place. The winner qualifies for the Final. The loser proceeds to Qualifier 2. League placing therefore supplies an additional survival opportunity.

Third and fourth play the Eliminator

The winning side keeps its route alive and moves to Qualifier 2. The losing side leaves the tournament. Winning this match reaches another playoff, not the Final itself.

Qualifier 2 joins the two routes

The Qualifier 1 loser faces the Eliminator winner. Its winner becomes the second finalist. The Final then brings together the winners of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2, who can have taken routes of different lengths.

Count matches from the club’s entry point

A top-two side can reach the Final with one playoff win. A third- or fourth-placed side needs to win twice before appearing there. If the Qualifier 1 loser reaches the Final, it will have recovered through the additional match.

Programme order is not a ranking label

The 2026 schedule placed the Eliminator before Qualifier 1. That calendar order does not change their different entry positions or rewards. Preserve the official round name beside the teams, rather than calling the first televised knockout the first semi-final. The bracket relationship is more informative than which programme comes first.
