The viewing mode affects playback controls and advertising behaviour. Its current paid and Free Channels offers also have different scopes, so a visible programme tile is only the start of an access check.
Choose the viewing mode deliberately
Use the guide for what is airing, an on-demand listing for an offered selectable item and Saved for eligible recordings. Philo’s watch-options help identifies these routes rather than treating every copy of an episode as interchangeable.
A hypothetical viewer following a weekly series may open the same title from different areas of the app. One route can be on demand while another is a captured airing. Keep the playback label and selected version visible when comparing the controls.
Save is a recording instruction
Philo describes saving a programme so eligible upcoming airings are recorded. That is different from a simple editorial bookmark or a general archive of all past episodes. Inspect the actual recorded items and scheduled airings in the Saved area.
The current product documentation distinguishes retention for paid plans and the Free Channels experience. Unlimited storage, where offered, still comes with a stated viewing window. Check the current plan’s condition rather than assume that saving creates permanent ownership.
Advertising controls depend on playback mode
Philo’s fast-forward help describes different behaviour for Saved recordings, live television and on-demand content. If a commercial break cannot be skipped, identify the current mode before changing the account or device settings.
For a household guide, record the programme, viewing mode and plan. If the aim is to watch a recording later, save the correct programme before its relevant airing and verify the captured item afterwards. A title page alone does not establish that the desired episode has been recorded.
Bundle services and add-ons need their own current check. Keep the included product and billing route with any companion-service entitlement; do not infer that a channel logo or a bundle headline grants every feature of a separately sold standalone plan.
