Choose the learning task
An example can teach renewal identity, receipt routing, a credit balance equation or a support handover. Include the information needed for that task and leave other details out. A learner should be able to explain the next action without searching for a real secret.
Make the fiction explicit
Label invented deductions, dates and customer records as hypothetical. Use placeholders rather than real hostnames, tokens or working connection links. Dream’s published package totals can be used accurately as reference facts, but invented consumption numbers must remain visibly separate.

Avoid weak anonymisation
Removing a name may leave phone numbers, order references, free text or credentials visible. Review attachments as well as text. A fictional reconstruction is often simpler for public instruction because it does not require claiming that a real case has been made anonymous.
Keep claims about testing honest
A training walkthrough is not a service performance test. State whether the example is documentation-based and do not imply a real customer outcome or personally tested compatibility. Review the exercise when the relevant workflow or primary source changes so learners do not practise an obsolete process.

Can I use a real case after changing only the customer name?
