Qualifying Standard customers can retain that benefit, but the notice says removing and later adding Sport does not restore it. Account history matters alongside the current plan name.
Identify the base plan and Sport start history
Open the account’s current base plan and Sport status, then find the relevant confirmation or billing history. Establish whether the account falls within the dated condition described by Stan. Do not infer it from another customer’s screenshot or from the fact that the app is installed.
A hypothetical pair of Standard customers can therefore have different sport-quality expectations if their Sport addition dates differ. The plan label alone is an incomplete comparison.
Read the exception before making an account change
Stan’s notice says qualifying Standard customers who added Sport before 1 July 2026 continue with up to 4K where available. It also says that removing and re-adding Sport loses that retained route and that it cannot be reinstated on Standard.
Use the current official notice for the account decision. Do not remove the add-on as a general picture-quality experiment without understanding the stated effect on that existing benefit.
| Account detail | Why to inspect it |
|---|---|
| Current base plan | Defines the present feature framework |
| Date Sport was added | May determine the specific retained benefit |
| Whether Sport was removed/re-added | Can affect the dated exception |
| Event and playback route | Still determine actual format availability |
| Exact access or quality symptom | Separates entitlement from delivery |
Keep the ordinary current plan rules separate
For later Sport additions, the notice ties the available maximum to the base plan, with Premium providing the current UHD route where available. A retained earlier benefit should not be presented as the default entitlement for every new Standard subscriber.
A hypothetical new customer and a qualifying earlier customer should each compare the offer and history that actually applies. A single broad claim that Standard always includes or never includes Sport UHD would lose the distinction.
Distinguish C9 from a lower-format stream
Stan says error C9 means the Sport add-on is required. That is an access issue. If the event is already unlocked and playing, investigate the expected title format and supported playback route instead of assuming the missing add-on message applies.
Keep the event, device, app version and actual observation with the plan record. A display’s advertised resolution does not establish the entitlement or full technical path. Use current Stan support for the device and event involved.
Preserve the outcome of a deliberate change
If you decide to change the plan or add-on after reading the conditions, retain the confirmation and inspect the updated account. Record which feature you intended to change. This keeps a dated entitlement question from turning into repeated purchases or settings changes based on an incomplete comparison.
