Native app first
Roku documents app addition from the device, its website and mobile app. The application must be available for the Roku account and platform. Inspect the app identity and any independent purchase or subscription conditions before adding it.
Roku account behavior can affect several linked devices. Its support guidance notes that app additions and removals are reflected across devices linked to the same account. Consider that shared setup before removing an app as a quick experiment.
Sharing a phone screen is a different route
Roku distinguishes app casting, screen mirroring and Apple AirPlay. A Cast button works only where the app and receiving device support the relevant route. Screen mirroring shows the sender’s interface; Apple devices use AirPlay with compatible Roku models.
A sharing method does not install the phone’s application on Roku. It also does not guarantee that an app allows its video to be displayed that way. Confirm the exact sender, Roku model and player feature rather than treating every wireless-display icon as interchangeable.
Separate maintenance from entitlement
Roku’s system update check can include app updates as well as device software. If an app does not appear after adding it, check the account and update state before looking for unrelated download files.
Removing an app is not a dependable way to cancel an independently billed service. Follow the appropriate billing provider’s cancellation process. Likewise, adding an app does not activate Dream 4K access or buy an independent player licence. Obtain a confirmed account method for the actual app you can open on Roku.
