That makes the language community and actual programme important details, rather than treating “Maya” as one universal spoken-language option.
A specific language institution and television department
The Academia de Lenguas Mayas de Guatemala identifies its TV Maya department as responsible for production, programming and operation of a national television project aligned with the academy’s purpose. That is a meaningful institutional reference, distinct from a generic Guatemalan entertainment label.
The academy also publishes audiovisual material through its official destination. A video, educational item and full live-channel transmission are different formats and should be identified as such.
Mayan language communities are distinct
The academy’s official directory identifies separate language communities, including Achi and Kaqchikel. A broad Mayan cultural interest should not therefore be used as a precise audio-language requirement.
If hearing a particular language is essential, state it with the programme title. A cultural subject, a place and a spoken language can overlap while answering different questions. Do not infer every episode’s soundtrack from an institution’s broad name.
Preserve the original programme and writing
For a named production, retain the original title and characters where possible. The academy’s own site discusses language-specific written forms in its content presentation; a practical English summary can help a household without replacing that identity.
A hypothetical family seeking a children’s story in a particular language needs more detail than Guatemalan children’s TV. Keep the language, title and episode or publication date. A general cultural video may not be the same production or edition.
Institutional activity is not a complete viewing inventory
An annual report can establish production and language-promotion work. A current programme page establishes an actual released item. A schedule establishes a live transmission. These evidence roles should remain separate.
This guide identifies TV Maya’s documented institutional and language-community context. It does not describe every Guatemalan broadcaster, establish a universal language track or promise an external subscription’s access to the academy’s programmes.
