Czech Television uses several clearly differentiated channel brands, including names whose punctuation carries meaning. Keeping ČT24, ČT sport, ČT :D and ČT art distinct helps identify the programme a viewer actually wants.

Recognize the public-service channel family

Czech Television’s official programming information describes a six-channel portfolio serving different audiences. Its history page identifies ČT1, ČT2, ČT24, ČT sport, ČT :D and ČT art. The shared ČT prefix marks the organization, while the remaining name distinguishes the service.

A request for children’s content on ČT :D should retain the complete brand. Removing the punctuation or replacing it with a generic channel number can make a precise children’s-service request ambiguous.

Do not confuse specialist identity with a programme guarantee

A news, sport or arts service name explains editorial purpose. It does not identify every episode or establish rights to every live event within that subject. For a match or performance, use the current dated announcement and exact programme title.

Czech Television’s own programming descriptions are useful for understanding which service family to consult, while a schedule is needed for a particular transmission. Keep these evidence roles separate.

Regional variants require more than ČT1

The broadcaster’s reception information lists regional ČT1 variants alongside its main services. That is a reminder that a national channel family can include regional transmissions. When the purpose is a local bulletin, retain the precise variant or edition stated by the broadcaster.

If a programme differs from an expected local edition, compare the variant before adjusting the guide clock. A region mismatch and a time-reference mismatch are different problems, and a generic ČT1 label may conceal the first.

Keep Czech titles and diacritics where possible

The original title is a stronger reference than an English topic summary. For a recurring programme, include an episode or edition date. For a programme found online, distinguish the digital episode from a live channel transmission.

A clear reference can read as a service name, original programme title and date, with a regional variant only when relevant. It identifies the intended content without claiming that any external subscription carries the channel or provides the same programme options.
