Croatian Radiotelevision uses related abbreviations for its organization, television services and radio services. A short numbered label can be ambiguous unless the media type is preserved.

HRT is the organization; HTV identifies television

HRT’s official institutional description distinguishes national radio programmes labelled HR from television programmes labelled HTV. It identifies four terrestrial television services and separately describes regional radio stations and centres.

The letters matter. A reference to HR 1 is not automatically the same as HTV 1, even though both belong to HRT. If a search returns audio instead of the expected picture, first establish whether the saved label names a radio or television service.

Regional centres do not all mean standalone television channels

The institutional description names regional centres and radio services. A city appearing in that list should not automatically be turned into a presumed full-day television channel. Use the broadcaster’s actual television programme or bulletin reference to resolve a local viewing need.

For a household following news from a former home region, the locality can be important without being a separate channel brand. Keep the programme title, edition and place together.

HRT International has a distinct audience reference

HRT identifies HRT International as a programme for Croats outside Croatia and separately identifies Voice of Croatia in its international media context. Preserve the media type and full service name rather than treating every international label as a domestic television simulcast.

A hypothetical diaspora household wanting a cultural magazine should retain the show and episode. A person seeking a domestic bulletin needs its exact edition. Shared national and cultural interests do not establish one identical schedule.

HRTi is an access destination, not another numbered channel

HRT’s institutional account mentions HRTi in its multimedia distribution context. A title found through a digital destination can identify a production while leaving the corresponding live transmission unresolved.

Keep Croatian titles and diacritics where possible. For sport, add the specific fixture and current announcement. The organization’s public-service and international roles do not establish a particular external subscription’s carriage or event rights.
