Bhutan Broadcasting Service distinguishes news/current affairs from education and entertainment, and its radio-language structure is not identical to its television structure. The media type and actual programme edition matter.

Two television programme roles

BBS’s current institutional description identifies TV Channel I with news/current affairs and TV Channel II with education and entertainment. It also describes evening news in Dzongkha and English.

A viewer seeking an English news edition should preserve the edition and service rather than assuming that every BBS programme is English. A person looking for educational content has a different reference from someone following national headlines.

Radio language names should not become invented TV channels

BBS separately describes radio programming in Dzongkha, English, Lhotshamkha and Tshanglakha. That institutional language list concerns radio and should not be silently converted into a set of full-day television services.

A household seeking a familiar-language audio programme can retain the radio identity. A television request needs its actual visual programme or bulletin. Shared national purpose does not make those media interchangeable.

Educational announcements have dates and levels

BBS has published lesson schedules through its education reporting. Such a report can establish a particular learning initiative and class-level sequence, but a historical lesson plan should not be presented as the current daily schedule.

For a lesson, preserve the subject, intended level and episode. For a cultural or entertainment programme, preserve its title. A hypothetical family seeking a school lesson and a relative seeking an evening bulletin need different programme details.

Keep current and historical references separate

BBS’s institutional history explains the arrival of its second television service in 2012. That history identifies the broadcaster’s development; its current programme information identifies what a viewer can follow now.

Use an actual dated schedule for live timing. Original language, subtitles and digital features remain tied to the programme and access route. The official service description does not establish an external subscription’s line-up, every lesson’s availability or universal model compatibility.
