A redacted payment image can preserve the order’s relevant amount, currency, reference and actual status while excluding unrelated transactions. A crop that removes the pending label or changes the apparent date can make the evidence misleading.
The following is an evidence-preparation example. It does not establish which payment methods Dream accepts or how a payment provider settles a transaction.
Choose the question the image answers
If the seller needs to match a transaction, the relevant reference and amount may be central. If the question is a currency difference, both currency labels may matter. Ask what evidence is needed before sending an entire statement. A focused question helps decide what to keep visible and reduces unnecessary disclosure from the beginning.
Keep the state label attached to the amount
Suppose a payment screen shows a transaction amount with a pending status. Removing the status while leaving the number can create the impression of a completed payment. Keep the actual label and ask the responsible provider what it means. A redaction should remove unnecessary private detail, not strengthen the claim beyond what the original record supports.
Separate a private original from a shareable copy
Keep the relevant original in its appropriate protected location while the issue remains active. Prepare a copy for the intended recipient and mark removed fields clearly. Do not edit amounts, dates or reference values to match what you expected. If a source record is wrong, ask the responsible party for a correction and preserve that explanation separately.
Inspect the whole exported file
A screenshot may include notifications, a visible email address in a browser tab, other transaction rows or personal information in the filename. Review the exported attachment at readable size. A small preview can hide a redaction mistake. If a typed transaction reference is sufficient, use that instead of an image that exposes more context than the case needs.
Use an evidence caption
A useful caption says which order the record concerns and what question remains. For example, it can state that the transaction appears under a particular status and the seller acknowledgment is pending. It should not declare that the image proves delivery or account completion. The provider’s actual confirmation supplies those later facts. This keeps the case both private and accurate, which makes reconciliation easier for everyone authorised to handle it.
Keep any personal annotation clearly separate from the transaction text. A caption can explain the question, while the visible source retains its actual wording. If a value appears wrong, ask the issuer to clarify it rather than adjusting the evidence. This preserves privacy and makes the resulting record easier for the responsible party to interpret.
Questions about this guide
Should I send the unredacted original if a cropped image is questioned?
Ask which specific field or context is needed and why. A broader copy may be appropriate through a legitimate protected process, but it should not be the automatic response. Preserve the original privately and supply the necessary evidence without exposing unrelated financial activity.
