A date beside a statement can look reassuring, but it is useful only when the reader can tell what was checked. A current primary source may describe one device version, account type or offer. Preserve that scope so a later quote or help article does not turn a narrow answer into a universal rule.

This article describes evidence maintenance for support and operations.

Record the claim being checked

Write the specific condition or instruction, responsible source and date reviewed. A service price, credit consumption mapping, app-store cancellation route and player compatibility claim need different evidence. Do not use one general provider page to imply that every account-specific condition has been confirmed.

Keep the applicable configuration visible

A developer instruction can apply to a particular app version or platform. A provider’s answer may describe a specific account action. A public package table establishes quantity and cost but may leave consumption and expiry unstated. A useful record identifies those limits beside the claim rather than hiding them in a generic disclaimer elsewhere.

Use historical evidence honestly

An earlier confirmation can explain what was used for a past order. It should not automatically be reused for a new quote. If the offer, action or system has changed, seek a current answer. Preserve the old record as historical context where useful and mark which value is operationally current. Replacing the checked date without reviewing the source would misrepresent the work.

Define a maintenance trigger

A changed app interface, new provider offer, contact update or revised primary document can trigger review. Choose the trigger that fits the claim. A household control guide needs a different review signal from a credit quote. This makes maintenance actionable instead of requiring a team to reread every page without knowing what could have changed.

Report verification accurately

Documentation research supports claims about what the source says. It does not establish a personal device test, successful payment or service performance result. Keep those evidence classes separate. A clear source, scope and checked date give the next reviewer enough context to decide whether the statement still answers the actual customer question.

A review log can state which material claim was checked and which was intentionally left unresolved. For example, a price-page review can confirm the current total while leaving credit expiry pending. That is more informative than a blanket checked label. It prevents a later writer from assuming that every neighbouring commercial or technical condition was researched at the same time.

Questions about this guide

Can I update only the checked date when an article is republished?

Only state a new checked date if the relevant source and claims were actually reviewed. Republishing or changing a heading is not evidence that technical or account conditions remain current. Keep the verification scope honest.
